to dream of darkness

to dream of dark things
to fear the faceless creatures
nature’s ghosts
stirring in the wind
running on the river
thrashing on the seabed
to hear the howl of the wind wolf
hunger in its belly
blood on its mind
gnashing at trees
to shiver as the water snakes down the valleys
all manner of man made things
passed through their bellies
the empty skin landscape
coloured black to grey
natures bright colours
carried on the torment of the water snake
to the hungry sea monsters
waiting their tithe
